My name is Olivia Sommer, I am an interior architect de l’école Camondo Paris, with an international background, based in Berlin. I have 10 years of professional experience. Let me guide you through 'creating specific atmospheres’. I was culturally bathed between the vibrant and abundant details of Art Nouveau in Brussels and the subtle poetry of the English style and influence. At the école Camondo, from les Arts Décoratifs, in Paris I was close enough to the French admirable relationship to the “aesthetics of things” to make of my design obsession a healthy addiction. Throughout my years at Studio Aisslinger and as a creative lead at NEUE Design I sharpened an eye for compositions and developed my own and singular approach into creating atmospheres and giving a specific identity to a room. Beginning of 2024, David Gössler and I founded AADA Atelier for Architecture, Design and Atmosphere. We are committed to the strong belief that architecture and interiors should not be separated in the creation process. They serve each other. The project Casa Muttabella was published online in AD Germany, Yellow Trace and Baunetz id. The project won the 1st Prize for 'Best of Interiors 2024' and will be published in the Jahrbuch der Architektur 2025, as well as part of the exhibition DA!. Establishing a strong ‘concept for atmosphere’ along side the ‘volumetric concept’ and the ‘story’ of the project. Bringing atmosphere into a project relies on good references and their analysis. A thorough understanding of the rules of interior achitecture inherited from historical projects allow new projects to follow, re-interpret or break with the past in full consciousness. Therefore integrating interior architecture history and theory knowledge is necessary in our work. Every single architetcural element and object impact the atmosphere in a room. All the gestures made by the interior architect are given a purpose through the research and study of the design movements and designers from the past.
