I have over 20 years of experience in teaching/tutoring Arabic language. From this vast experience I followed several methods to teach Arabic. In general, my lessons are built around a student-centered, communicative approach that ensures learners actively use Arabic rather than passively receive information. I structure each lesson with clear objectives, so students know exactly what they are expected to achieve by the end of the class.
A typical lesson follows a balanced progression:
Warm-up and review to activate prior knowledge and encourage speaking from the start.
Introduction of new material (vocabulary or grammar) presented through context, visuals, real-life situations, and examples rather than isolated explanations.
Guided practice through interactive activities such as role-plays, dialogues, matching tasks, sentence building, and storytelling.
Independent practice where students produce language through speaking or writing tasks.
Wrap-up and feedback to assess understanding and reinforce key points.
I maintain 70–80% use of Arabic during class to create an immersive environment, adjusting the level of language according to students’ proficiency.
My lessons accommodate different learning styles:
Visual (images, videos, charts)
Auditory (dialogues, recordings, discussions)
Logical (clear grammar charts and structured rules)
Kinesthetic (games, group work, role-play)
I integrate technology and digital tools such as Moodle, Google Classroom, Zoom, Quizlet, and Kahoot to make lessons interactive and to track student progress.
Assessment is continuous and performance-based. I evaluate learning through students’ ability to speak, write, and interact using the target language during activities, rather than relying only on traditional testing.
I also connect lessons to current cultural, political, and social events in the Arabic-speaking world to make learning relevant and engaging.
Overall, my lesson structure ensures that students:
1- Understand the goal of the lesson
2- Engage actively with the language
3- Practice in meaningful contexts
4- Receive constructive feedback
5-Build confidence in using Arabic in real-life situations.
